Scribble picnic - sign up at the DOOR!

 "Another Trip to Mars"

Welcome to another Scribble Picnic. Step right this way through the DOORs  below... Time to sign up YOUR piece for this week! (I'll check out all your versions on Thursday btw*.)

For my interpretation, I decided to show what perhaps the interior of a spaceship traveling to Mars might look like after it's not quite the pioneering venture as before, but not exactly rote yet either, on maybe the 10th trip out there or something where people are getting a little more relaxed, silly even!

Can any of you guess the cultural references for each of the bumper stickers? I would be amazed if you could! You would have to be pretty nerdy to get all these, actually, but hey, I'm thinking astronauts and scientist types just might know... :)

* As it is, my dear mother passed away this Monday. If interested, you might care to see my brief dedication to her, clicking through the pics on my Instagram post. :( Come this weekend or so, I'll publish something here more fitting for Mama. She truly lived a most extraordinary life! While moving so terribly far away, I nevertheless miss her already even though, in reality, it was usually such a long time between visits for most of the time! Hard as such to believe she is actually gone.  💔

  3. You and Alexandra have been on my mind so deeply. Seems like many of us have experienced the loss of loved ones recently...it's so hard, especially parents. I loved the picture of you and your mum Alex put on facebook. What a lovely and sweet face. Prayers and Hugs.

  8. Thank you to each of you who have left such lovely notes for me with my mother's passing. It really means a lot as I read them tonight feeling that ache inside, a little more pronounced tonight. As such, sorry this is a bit later tonight, but still in time for a Wednesday picnic! I hope you enjoy..and maybe it will even bring a few smiles?

  11. Oh I'm smiling from ear to ear ~A space ship with polka dot red shade. That alone would qualify me for the trip with you. I love it. Is it watercolor, or digital done. Love it either way. I don't have instagram, but know the tribute to your mum will be marvelous.

    1. Oh Michael..thank you for the link. What a special woman indeed. I can't believe home much you look like your young mum. You certainly got her good looks and her character qualities...that the legacy we all want. Love you to the moon, or mars and back. Hugs.

    2. thank you Wanda. You are the best. I look even more like my father, actualyl, but yes, certainly some shared features Mama did not like pics taken when she got past 30 and do I have so few to use and thus the big gap! None that she liked when I was a teen or young man, really. Lol.

  13. I can imagine that someone pulled up that shade (so appropriate for a trip to the red planet) after a night (is there night in space?) of sleep, and was quite surprised to see they were finally almost to Mars!
I admit, I do know three of the bumper sticker references for sure! The others sound familiar, but I can't place them offhand!

  15. Michael,
I was sure I had written something here before. But alas - it's not here. My sympathy in the loss of your Mom - I know - it feels empty.
And I love your door - I only figured out Chewbacca but from the next post I should have seen we are not in Kansas anymore as I say that a lot.
Blessings and looking forwarded to this week.

    1. Thanks for posting again, Janis, and for your comment. as someone who has been well acquainted with grief before, as hard as this of course is thinking that one's mother is gone, it's nothing compared to some of the harder still things Ive gone though before, years ago when facing major loss on so many fonts.
